David William was not expecting to have a guest share his jerk chicken when he sat down for lunch at an East Village restaurant in New York City.
A young, red-tailed hawk swooped down and took a peck at William’s lunch at the appropriately named restaurant Birdie’s. He snapped a photo of the hawk and later posted it to his blog.
"The hawk just sat there for a little while, getting jerk BBQ sauce all over its talons,” William said on his blog post.
Startled by a delivery man, the hawk flew into Birdie’s kitchen June 18 around 3 p.m. A cook managed to catch the unsettled hawk and put it into a crate so it could be picked up by The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.
