The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries Secretary Robert Barham has closed the Boeuf Wildlife Management Area in Caldwell Parish as of Nov. 20 citing flood waters as the reason for the emergency closure.

Flooding from heavy rainfall poses potential risk of overharvest and a safety risk to the hunting public according to the department.

Hunters are encouraged to visit other nearby wildlife management areas such as Big Lake, Buckhorn, Ouachita, Russell Sage and Sicily Island Hills wildlife management areas.
